This is a new year, a new month, and that means a month of WIP Joy posts. I'm writing a short story this month, a continuation of two other short stories I've already written ("Of Oceans and Oblivion" and "Children's Dreams and Other Dead Things"). It doesn't have a title yet, but that will come later. It's a pirate story, and it features Mace who will become the villain of a series of books I'm also working on. Mace is an under educated teenager right now who lives on the streets. He practices illegal magic and is hunted because of it. Now, he's a runaway on a merchant ship bound for Melanthios, the country to the north, but he's taken prisoner by pirates. That is where this story picks up. Here is my inspiration picture for Mace (I do not own it. I just like it for inspiration.)
