Mace has spent his life running. He ran from the men who killed his parents, ran from the witch hunters of his homeland, and even now on the ocean heading to a new country, he is forced to fight and run again. With all of this, all Mace wants is his freedom. He wants to settle down somewhere where his magic isn't illegal, or at least where no one cares that he has it, and he wants to be left alone. His desire for freedom and solitude might lead him to take risks he might not otherwise take.
